Wrapping up 2012 with a smile
Posted on Monday 31 December 2012 @ 05:30 with 0 comments

Hi guys!

As we know, 2013 is tomorrow and it's going to be super scary, a new year with unknown possibilities. But 2012 has been nice and not so nice to me so let's wrap it up nevertheless with a smile.

All I know is that I've been very lucky this year to be able to do some of the things I have and instead of whining and grumping all the time, why don't you just think of the good things that happened this year?

Be grateful and end 2012 perfectly and start 2013 perfectly.

Taiwan Day 1
Posted on Friday 28 December 2012 @ 18:30 with 0 comments

Hi! I'm trying to update more regularly before 2013 because then I'll have so many things to do and so many places to go.

Anyway, in case you don't follow my Twitter, I recently went to Taiwan for a short 5D4N holiday, sponsored by Magnum Machinery! Apparently, their website is not up yet but it will be soon!

This is a 5 day trip. Currently working on the other days, will link them here later.

Check out Dion's post on this!

However, we had to sit on a budget airline.

Ok, to be fair, it was because it was booked really last minute and the fees came up to Singapore dollar $60K! Not cheap ok, don't think just because it's a budget airline, it's less than a $100. (not unless you book late)

This was from the plane we were sitting on. LOL, it was Tiger Airways. I know, stop giggling behind the computer.

Up in the sky. I don't find these shots very attractive anymore, because so many people flood them on my Instagram!

I would say if you are really really really saving up money for shopping and stuff and budget airlines are your LAST resort (like mine) then don't take any budget airlines. Go for Singapore Airlines or something.

IT REALLY IS SO UNCOMFORTABLE!!

The seats are practically squashed together and mine was a 5 hour flight, which basically made me want to die. That was one of the reasons why there's no camwhore shots in the post so far, because I was so frazzled at waking up so early in the morning.

As I said, I woke up quite early but it was still considered late so I had to rush to the airport for my flight. I didn't have breakfast so airplane food was the way to go.

This is their Teriyaki with Rice, not cheap though, it was SGD$10 for one palate like that. I measured it and it's like around my palm size. And since I traveled with my brother(whose blog link I'll put up later once he does the trip) and my parents, we all ordered like what, $14 worth of food each.

And Mum was flipping through the Tiger Airways shop and she bought this BB cream, which was like $70? So the bill practically came over a $100. Mum said the BB cream was a good buy though. Like I would know anything hahaha.

You know those commercials for drinks where they pour the drink into the cup and it looks very fresh? We were attempting to do that. I know I know, you can contact me for future advertorials.

Mum's Nasi Lemak. It tastes horrible too.

When we landed, we had to take a bus from Taoyuan to Taipei to check in at our hotel and our hotel was so cute!

The lobby!
It felt like a little garden I was stepping into.

Hotel hallway!

I forgot to take pictures of the room the entire two days we stayed there because we were rushing out for dinner!

The weather there was good though, it felt like walking in an air-conditioned room.

We went to a nearby place for dinner.
Ice cream milk tea. Taiwan is famous for their milk teas! It's not bad I would say, definitely not as sweet as Singapore's GongCha and Koi, but confirm can compete with each other.

Their hot almond milk tea.

The dinner is horrible so I won't post any pictures of it. Taiwanese really eat alot, and they always serve everything in sets. So it's just practically normal there's a bowl of rice, another bowl of vegetables, another bowl of fruits, a bowl of soup, and like the main dish. It's like a whole meal.

Then we headed to Ximen, which is the home of Ximending. It's like a night market, but I won't compare it to Bugis Street because some of the things are going to about SGD50... It's for the youngsters so there were many (good-looking) youngsters.

The difference between Singapore and Taiwan is that the youngsters in Taiwan dress to the nines. They all wear until so nice, I feel abit paiseh to walk in Ximending! But if you're young and wild, then going to Ximending is a must and it's a night market and only closes at like 3am?

Me taking a picture of a street food store that has a Taiwanese feel to it.

Lady making tang yuan! But it's not tang yuan, it's feng yuan or something. It's cold and the different colors represent the different flavors. I like the strawberry one the best because it tastes the most... right? But very cute though, would definitely have this over the hot tang yuan!

It's quite cheap also!

Bakery in Zhongshan. I stole this pic from my bro lol.

Ok the bread there is seriously a big difference from the ones in Singapore bakeries. They sprinkle the bread with flour and it tastes just as nice. It's not too oily and greasy and it's huge omg. The bread there can easily feed like 3 people for a snack?\

This is the garlic baguette I bought and it tastes amazing. Hands down, much more natural than the ones at BreadTalk. Also, the bread is so much more fluffier.

I guess unless you're really kiasu and want to snap every picture of everything at Ximending while touring the area then you'd have alot of pictures to blog about. I was so busy looking at clothes, shoes, contact lenses and all that. It's really so much to walk and yeah, that's my excuse for not taking many pictures.

Did I mention?! The people there are super nice. I'm not sure if it's just because they're doing business or what, but they are super nice one. They do altering services for free if you buy their trousers and they tell you where to get the best deals around the area. See, not so selfish one.

And it's a tradition to try Taiwan's bubbletea! This is like the franchise and the most well known brand for Taiwanese bubbletea. I tried green tea bubbletea and it tastes good! Not so sweet, definitely a fight!

I would say that day 1 was pretty short because like practically 5 hours was spent on the plane. Day 2 would be posted soon!

End of the world in 2012?
Posted on Thursday 20 December 2012 @ 04:33 with 0 comments

HELLO GUIZE, sorry for not updating in like the longest time. I'm still thankful for the 400 views racked up while I officially took a break from my blog. Love love love.

Anyway, today's post will be about 2012, and I'm writing and publishing this one day before the appointed doomsday. Tomorrow will be 21/12/12 and what exactly will happen?

Basically if you were living under a shell and you are completely oblivious of anything then this mini explanation in RED would give you a thumbs up of what's happening.

------

Back in 2009, the film '2012' was released and it's basically about the Mayan Calender, which ends it's long count in 2012. People think that the Mayan calender officially ends on 21/12/12 BUT it's actually just the end of a long count period, not the whole calender. Thus, people say that it's the end of time and the Mayans predicted this day to be the end of humanity. There are many other stories about 21/12/12 but I'll only focus on two of them(excluding the Mayan long count), which is the photonic belt and the Nostradamus predictions.

------

I'll start with the whole idea of 2012. Ok, this is my taking of the whole thing. Disagree or agree, it's up to you.

I personally don't think the world is ending tomorrow.

Our planet has been doing fine for billions of years, why would it suddenly end tomorrow? The world looks fine. Look outside your window if you're reading this before 21/12/12. There's no trees falling, the ground doesn't look cracked, the sky looks amazing and obviously you don't feel like the world is going to end.

Nostradamus, who has made amazing predictions that came true. He predicted 9/11, Princess Diana's death, John F. Kennedy assassinations, the French revolution and many other horrific events(including the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, something closer to our hearts) that happened.

So in 1555, he predicted, "From the calm morning, the end will come, when of the dancing horse, the number of circles will be nine".

In case the term 'dancing horse' doesn't strike anything to you, then it's the meaning of Psy's Gangnam Style, where the dance resembles a horse. And the Gangnam Style video is reaching 1 billion views. There are 9 zero's in 1 billion, and they are all represented as circles. So, 9 circles. The calm morning refers to Korea's peace and calmness.

Here's the widely spread video in case you want more information. (the original 1mil vid got flagged lol)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvDpdIy6hfA

So what I say about this? It's funny but it's scary because his predictions have come true. But then, this prediction may not even have a link to this, because to me the number 0 doesn't represent a circle. It's an oval to me eh lolol.

I was chatting about this whole thing with my drama peeps and they were all so creeped out seriously! Everyone was talking about how the world would end, wlao we like not scared die like that. Saying that the Sun will explode and stuff and that there'll be aliens and whatnot.

So for Nostradamus predictions, I say that maybe this will be one prediction that will be false maybe. Maybe. If you're reading this like long after the world ended and a new civilization began then you can leave a mention at my twitter @fatsouls proving me wrong. Not that I can read it lolol.

Another funny thing everyone keeps talking about is how the Earth will enter a photonic belt and there'll be total darkness for 3 days. That's kinda sad, because I'm leaving for Taiwan tomorrow... can't imagine how sad it'll be. Go for vacation, then blackout.

I think this is more scientifically stupid than Nostradamus's prediction. If there is a photonic belt, NASA will probably be screaming and the whole world can see the belt in the sky already. But there is no weird goggly hole of darkness waiting for us, as NASA confirms.

I believe in God, because I'm Christian and I think that if the world ends, it's at His command and not some random predictions. Amen.

IF THE WORLD DOESN'T END(quite positive, but who knows) THEN I'LL BLOG ABOUT MY TAIWAN TRIP.

PS : People think that like I have nothing to blog about, and when I go somewhere, that's the only place I go. NOT TRUE. I specially filter only the interesting and best trips for your reading experience. Sound so professional sia!

Sorry for this short post though!
